About DEHAAS

About DEHAAS

DEHAAS Inspection, Manufacturing & Welding Consultancy is an independent welding consultancy based in Menaam, Friesland, working throughout Europe and North America. We support companies with welding engineering, welding coordination, QA/QC, welding inspection and certification: the whole territory where weld quality, standards and production meet.

  • Independent, no ties to suppliers or certification bodies
  • Hands-on background in fabrication and inspection
  • Short lines and reports without noise
  • Netherlands-wide from Menaam, Friesland

Our approach is level-headed. No reports written to impress, but answers the workshop and project management can act on immediately. We say what is needed, and just as plainly what is not, even when that makes an assignment smaller.

An independent party in the welding chain

DEHAAS sells no welding equipment, no consumables and no certificates. We are not an examining body and not an extension of any manufacturer. That independence is deliberate: our only interest is that your welding demonstrably complies, at no greater cost than necessary.

It also makes us useful when relations are strained. In a rejection dispute between client and fabricator, in the assessment of a supplier or in a claim over weld defects, the judgement of a party with no side to take carries weight. We substantiate our position with the code and with practice, in a report that stands up.

A hands-on background in fabrication, inspection and welding

The roots of DEHAAS lie on the shop floor, not in a lecture hall. We have worked on the production side, carried out inspections and managed qualification projects, in fabrication environments where schedule, cost and quality compete daily.

You notice that background in our advice. We know how a standard reads on paper and how the work runs in the shop, and we bridge the two. A WPS nobody can weld to, an inspection plan that stalls production or a requirement that adds nothing in practice: we recognise it and name it before it costs money.

How we work: short lines, usable reports

At DEHAAS you deal with one point of contact who masters the subject matter personally. Questions are answered by the person doing the work, not passed along a desk. We schedule promptly, deliver what was agreed and flag it immediately when something runs differently than expected.

Our reports are written to be used: a clear conclusion up front, the substantiation with code references beneath it and concrete next steps where relevant. Whether it concerns an inspection report, a qualification coverage analysis or advice on EN 1090 or ISO 3834, you can take it straight to your client, your supplier or the certification body.

Who we work for

Our clients share one trait: welding is quality-critical to them.

  • Structural steelwork: fabricators supplying under EN 1090, from EXC1 to EXC4
  • Shipbuilding: yards and suppliers working to class and client specifications
  • Machine building: manufacturers of machinery with welded frames and structural parts
  • Process industry and pressure equipment: fabrication and modification under PED 2014/68/EU
  • Procurement and engineering organisations: parties that specify or subcontract welding and want a grip on its quality

From one-man shop to major manufacturer: the questions differ in scale, rarely in nature.

Netherlands-wide from Menaam

DEHAAS operates from Menaam, just south of Leeuwarden, and is active across Europe and North America. For inspections, audits and shop-floor support we come to your site or your supplier's. Document reviews, coverage analyses and code questions are handled largely remotely, so travel time never becomes an unnecessary cost.

Many assignments combine both: a site visit to see the situation first hand, followed by remote elaboration and coordination. That keeps lines short and costs predictable, even when your project is at the other end of the country.

The Welding & Quality Assistant as our front door

New at DEHAAS is the Welding & Quality Assistant: an online assistant where you put a welding question directly. A smart intake gathers the right data, you receive a quick first technical indication and an experienced specialist reviews every answer before it becomes formal.

The assistant is our front door; the specialist remains the safeguard. Where your situation calls for more than an answer, the question flows on to an expert review, an inspection, external welding coordination or a quotation, with everything you supplied already attached.

Frequently asked questions

No. DEHAAS is an independent consultancy. We prepare certifications, manage qualifications and carry out inspections, but formal certification and statutory examinations rest with the designated bodies. That is precisely what allows us to sit entirely on your side of the table.

Among others EN 1090-2, ISO 3834-2, -3 and -4, ISO 14731, EN ISO 15614-1, ISO 9606-1, ISO 5817, ISO 17637, ASME IX and PED 2014/68/EU. Where your client works to a proprietary specification or a classification society, we include those requirements in the assessment.

Yes. Smaller companies rarely employ their own welding coordinator or QA department, yet their clients still demand demonstrable quality. We scale our involvement to the size of the business: from a single question through the Welding & Quality Assistant to a standing role as external welding coordinator.
